    Or better, Install 1.0.2.
I have, actually, kept the old version, installed in a different directory, and with a separate profile. The secondary, i.e. older version, has some bad and good news. The bad news are that not all e-mails are downloaded. The good news are that Junk mail which was handled, will not show up.
I will eventually give up on the second profile, when my wife makes up her mind.

    Ramona,
I was just pulling your leg. TB1.02 works fine. But, honestly, I was pretty sure than I had 1.01. Oh well.

    Westside,

I knew you were razzing me, and I admit I had to laugh at myself, as there is no Version 1.0.1....

I know that's what it says somewhere at mozilla.org, but there were aviary nightlies labled 1.0.1 dating back to at least 13 February, and there are still aviary nightlies labled 1.0.1 dated as late as 22 March, even though the 1.0.2 release bears a date of 17 March in Help > About... .

I think what they mean is that there was no official 1.0.1 release. I can't begin to guess why there are still 1.0.1 nightlies being posted after the release of 1.0.2.

Previously with Mozilla and FF I did not delete the program folder, I just uninstalled in add/remove, then installed the new version. I noticed when I upgraded my FF using the zip method, I have under C:\ program files, FF version 1.0, but when I look at the folder containing FF under Documents/Settings, Administrator, etc., I have Version 1.0.1 (I have Win 2000). Does anyone know if I can I safely delete the C:\program files version 1.0 of FF?

    Thanks

    Jeane,

Not having Windows XP I can't advise you on the Program Files subfolder of the Administrator folder. Someone using Windows XP will most likely jump in and answer your question.

Once you have removed Firefox, ensure that you reboot the PC before installing the new Version.

    Jeane,
you have no idea how complicated things can get. You may find out that Firefox1.02 has just come out. I, generally, do not like to install any version until it has been finalized, so the unzipped version makes sense. Since there was a preview of 1.02, I installed it in a separate folder (there was no .zip download), and created a separate profile for this preview. That's where we differ, as it sound like you have a single profile, and there is never any evidence of a version name in the Documents/Settings,etc. Also, the unzipped, version will not appear in the Add/Remove, so it is ok to uninstall 1.0, like you did in the past.
But don't get hung up on the name of the profile. The profiles are not affected by the uninstall, and are, then, picked up by the next version, first come, first served, not the mythical migrating of settings.
In my case, I ended up installing the 1.02 on top of the preview, and after uninstalling 1.01, I ended up with a zillion of files left over, which I deleted.
And, then, I had to check, everywhere the default settings.
To make a long story short, leave the Profile alone. The name is no big deal. I am using a profile called Netscape7.02, by way of Mozilla1.4, for Netscape7.2.
You can rename the profile in the manager, but not on the HD (it was that way the last time I tried).

Actually, you can rename the profile folder on the HDD, but you have to open FF's profile manager before running the program, delete the old profile name (but not the files), then create a new profile, navigating to the renamed profile folder so that FF can find it when it opens.

I never tried it. It makes sense. I don't care about Firefox, but I have chaos with Netscape or Mozilla.
