Netscape Mail Folders Lost after XP upgrade

I posted this at the XP page, too.

I upgraded to XP and cannot find my Netscape Mail Folders. On the Netscape Mail page the address book is the there. So are the profiles. But the Mail Folders and contents are gone.

I don't have Mozilla folder in Documents and Settings. Where is this stuff if the profiles and address book are there? I can find no files with the extention .slt.

Found .slt files.....now what

okay, cool! I found the .slt files. There's a folder named "earthlink" for my main profile and another called "mail.earthlink.net" for my other profile. Now how do I get these to open up in Netscape Mail? Thanks.

Alright. Server settings are correct but...

the folders don't show. What now? Also.....I can't get mail on the page.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum jpblev!

JB,

Cross posting on the Forums is unacceptable. See Posting Rule No. 4..

In your Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings, scroll down to the "Local directory" field. Change the path to point to the appropriate location on the HD for your mail.earthlink.net, and earthlink accounts. Do this for each Profile. If this doesn't correct your problems, post back.

Local directory is correct, still no go

sorry for the cross posting. posted the prob on xp board before realizing there was one specific for netscape and if there's an option to delete your post i can't find it.

each Local Directory points to the correct location. folders still do not appear. in fact, i'm not able to get my mail through netscape at this point.

thanks.

JB,

The other thread is gone now. Only the Mod's can delete posts.

So when you open your Mail & Newsgroups the left Accounts panel is completely blank? If so use the dropdown menu from the tiny icon at the upper right side of the Mail Account panel as shown in this Screen Shot. Perhaps you haven't enabled your columns, or they have inadvertently been changed?

Or are the folders there, but no Mail in the folders?

Do this for me:
Open Mail & Newsgroups
Right click on the Inbox folder of joeblow

Select: "Copy folder location"
Next: Open Clipboard
You will see the location of your Inbox there, and that is where your Server Settings | Local directory field should point.

Do the same for joeblow2.

One other question, in the Netscape Profile Manager, is the Profile listed?
Start | Programs | Netscape X | Profile Manager

For a Mail Setting edit you must close Netscape and reopen, for it to take effect. It must be written to the prefs.js file before you will see the edit in Mail & Newsgroups.

no inbox folder

that's the thing, ramona. there are no folders - generic or otherwise - underneath the profile names listed. and i can't create folders.

when i go to start program files netscape profile manager, it just opens up the browser and goes to my yahoo home page.

JB,

Good grief, I should go to bed, of course you can't click on the Inbox if it isn't there!

What I would do, is open Mail & Newsgroups and delete both Mail Accounts, close Netscape, then reopen Mail & Newsgroups.

Now recreate the Mail accounts, ensuring that they point to the correct location on the HD. If this doesn't work then you will need to Create a New Profile.

Let us know how it goes.

silly me. i thought this was over. this is probably easier to fix. on my messages now, underneath the subj, from, to, cc are lines and lines of detail stuff like

xx mozilla status
xx mozilla
return path
conent
MIME-Version
etc...

how can i get rid of that stuff? thanks.
