Mailbox Creation on Webmal Server Failed (Fixed)

I had the same problem just recently when I did a clean install on a new hard drive. After I installed Netscape on the new hard drive and went to set everything back up...I noticed that I got the same response from Netscape "Mailbox creation on webmail server failed ". I thought maybe the server was down at first so I waited a couple of days and when I went to go back to setup the exsisting mail account, I still recieved the same response. I did some searching for the problem just to find that lots of people expirenced the same problem after uninstalling the program and reinstalling it Some where even posted far back as Feb 2004. All was working fine on my machine before with no problems so I knew the feature was still in use and wasn't deceased by AOL. Knowing that, I reinstalled my old hard drive and set it for slave so I could have access to the files on it. On the old hard drive, I went to the data files for mozilla under my personal account folder (Win XP) and copied them and Pasted them into the new hard drive under my personal account settings in the Mozilla data files. Opened up Netscape and went to the netscape mail program and all was like it was before with no further problems.

This solution may help some people with the same problem if they have a backup of their data files. I know this problem is hard to find answers to. Just to send an email to the folks for netscape will cose you 9.95 or so just for your question but then again.....this is a free program

    Good Luck......

Welcome to the Forum, Hertz Donut!

    Hi Hertz Donut,

Thank you for posting your solution to this annoying problem with Netscape Webmail! You are so right, when you say that many users experience this problem in setting up their Webmail.

I wonder if you would mind going into more detail, for the less experienced user, on how, and what data files you copied from you old HD to the new installation. It would be most helpful, and thanks!

I made this a separate thread in order to draw more attention to the new Title, and content.

I have a solution. For some reason, Webmail seems to be unable to authenticate. I e-mail a fellow who is responsible for Webmail. I cannot promise results, but I can tell you how I did.
Do everything as usual. Then you will be asked to enter yor name to be used in conjunction with account. That is when things hang up. So click Cancel. I did it immediately. And, the mail box was created.
I have two addresses, and I had removed one as a demonstration, and could not put it back.
They don't charge me, because I know who to bug.
The fellow has had no answer for me, but was very prompt with his replies.
I never tried the "Donut" man approach since I was dealing with an IMAP account.
Again, which files did you copy?

I've been having problems after I reinstalled Netscape. It's a real problem as I repair Windows XP and then Netscape wouldn't work any more the there seems a bug in the installation of Netscape as it doesn't set the registery file correctly so it can run after one installs it. I had to delete those files and a dat file and then reinstall. So I don't have backup netscape files to copy over and I actually paid the $9.95 and they more or less useless when it came to solving this problem. Uninstalling and then reinstalling Netscape didn't work as I told the fellow. Does anyone else have a suggestion how I can access my email from the email program as opposed to logging in on the web page?

Westside, I tried the canceling trick right after the box asked for my name and nothing changed. I tried before I typed in my name and after several times. I'm not sure how it could create the settings needed to access mail without the netscape server kicking back some info to mail program. I've looked at the data flow that netscape is asking for and for the most part, it sends out a request for data and Netscape says, no, wrong format to wrong type to wrong access.

Mailbox Creation on Webmal Server Failed(Fixed)

There is another posted that gives hint on how to fix this problem here. You create a new account from the Mail and Newsgroup menu. If you have a web mail account go to that box and fill out the info. Fix out the account name and password. When the box asks you what name you want, put in your name and then go to the next. Netscape will try and connect to the server but count to 20 and then cancel. A box will come behind all the boxes asking you to confirm the info. Name and email address ects. You have to click OK or no account will be created. The account should be created after you click yes.. It make take some time but for me it took about 20 seconds and the poster got the process from fixed his by canceling right away!. Anything before that didn't create the account for me but it may vary for you. Thanks to Westwind(?) for the process. I don't know what is wrong with Netscape right now but I do I could change my email address as this problem is clearly at their end and they were no help at all in resolving it.
