What is the difference between Collected Addresses and the
    Personal Address Book?

The Help File as far as I've been able to determine doesn't cover this question?

    Thanks.

    Hi vegaspat,

The Collected Address Book collects email addresses from incoming, and outgoing messages. That setting is in:
    Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Addressing.

The Personal Address Book is an empty Address Book to which you can add your own entries.

For more information see this page on The Address Book

    Vegaspat,

As far as I can tell, the Collected Addresses is just a separate abook in which you can put addresses that are collected, rather that jamming up your Personal Address Book.

Prior to NS 7.1 (Moz1.4) you could collect INCOMING addresses via the UI. You could also LIMIT the number (size) of Collected addresses.

NS 7.1 (Moz1.4) and above, does not have the UI ability to collect INCOMING, you have to set it thru about:config or prefs entry. You can not limit the size of Collected Addresses book.

There are a couple of other interface differences that do not amount to much. Otherwise I can see no real difference between the two.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks to you guys once again.

Someday I may figure this computing thing out. Of course I realize no one EVER figures it all out.

    Collected addresses

A few months ago, I opened the collected add book and was amazed to find a 100
    or more.
I started looking around and found that I could limit the number which I did- 10.
    Using NS 7.0 Jor R

    Thanks.

    Please see my post above:

Netscape 7.1 does not collect incoming addresses unless you REALLY go out of your way to set it. You can not limit the number of collected addresses in 7.1.

Collected addresses can be configured in:

    Edit|preferences|Mail & Newsgroups|Addressing

Depending on which versions you are using - what choices you have.

    Hope this helps
