Emails dated 12/31/1969

Help! Everytime I view my inbox contents, I get a blank email dated 12/31/1969 6:00pm. It usually copies the to/from from other emails in my inbox. I can delete it, and empty trash and when I view inbox again - a similar one appears. I have run NAV and it shows my system is clean, but I worry what other affects (besides being irritating) this may have on my system.

thanks in advance.

My System

Welcome to the Forum, pdg!

Hi pdg,

This will cause no harm to your system, so you can relax.

If you are usiing Netscape 7.x do this:

With Netscape closed:
Back up your Profiles Folder
(See Profile Location for your OS)

Navigate to your Mail Account folder
Delete all files with an MSF extension

Open Netscape Mail:
Compact Folders
File | Compact Folders

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

lee,

When you delete a message in Netscape, or Mozilla, it's not physically removed from the mail file, but only hidden from display. This wastes valuable hard disk space. To reclaim that HD space for the current account, you need to compact folders in Netscape, or Mozilla.

Everyone should compact their Mail folders periodically.

Thanks Ramona,

Now I know why my Inbox keeps increasing in size even though it's empty.
