Unhappy netscape cache files

with Netacape 7.0 I empty cache every day using the Edit/preferences. One day I descided to actually check the folder where those files are kept. there were over 100 files all with strange names that were mostly strings of numbers & letters. They all had various dates of creation
Now when i went to dump the cache in the usual manner & checked that folder all of those files were still there. Any ideas on this? can I dump those strange files?

Everything in your...\Profiles\xxxxxxxx .slt\ CACHE folder is safe to delete. Just make sure that Netscape is closed when you delete the Cache folder contents.

As a matter of interest, I don't believe that you can manually delete ALL of the contents of the cache folder with netscape open.
_CACHE_001_
_CACHE_002_
_CACHE_003_
_CACHE_MAP_

are not available for deletion.
