For anyone that wants to see the old pop-up options box back, just follow the directions below...

    (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste pref and pause while the list is filtered

    (3) Double-click the browser.preferences.inContent preference to switch it from true to false

Note: I don't know whether that will be in Firefox forever or is a transitional feature. As you've probably noticed, the long-term trend is to remove things that pop up.

I found these instructions on the Mozilla forums.

The options box disappeared on both of my PCs, including an established installation of Firefox. I wish Mozilla would listen to their end users for a change instead of introducing unwanted modifications.

That setting has existed for many years and was set to False by default. I guess FF is trying to copy Chrome in some ways, the latest version sets it to True by default.

I prefer to separate Options window because the "last tab state is saved ". I always want Options to open with the Privacy tab in focus.

My biggest beef was having to vertically scroll through the new options page. The fonts and graphics were too large to fit the screen.

I have to scroll up and down, but not side to side.
