I use Firefox as my default browser. However, recently I am having some problems. 1. search ...when I start to type in a search it use to give me suggestions as soon as I started typing. Now I only see flashes of things in the drop down but can not click on any. I went to the settings to make sure the search for suggestions was enabled and it was. Also when I try typing in an auto fill area for example facebook, as soon as I hit the shift key (so that I can use the underscore) it insteads takes me back to the previous page. These things are driving me nuts!!! I do not have the problem when using chrome so it has to be something in Firefox. I have reset Firefox but still nothing. Any and all help is so appreciated.

I went to add ons and hit never activate on all plug ins. I still have the same problems. For instance just trying to write this message using firefox when I hit shift and "I" for the first word, it took me back to the previous page. So I am answering using chrome. This is so frustrating. Please help

At this stage I would suggest uninstalling Firefox, downloading a fresh copy and re-installing.

Export your bookmarks to an html file.
    Uninstall FF.
    Delete this folder: <username>/appdata/local/mozilla
    Delete this folder: <username>/appdata/roaming/mozilla
    Reinstall FF > import bookmarks.

If still have problems using FF, follow these instructions:

Only after confirming that all is OK, install desired plugins such as flash, etc.

Keep in mind that Tony's advice will delete your profile. In addition to exporting bookmarks, you also might want to export your passwords (if you have used FF for a while, you might have accumulated a lot of them).

See this link for items you might want to save:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

Any files you want (such as the two password files---BOTH must be copied over) can be sent to your desktop, and then re-copied when you reinstall FF. They can be moved (and replace) the same file that is in a brand new installation.

I think I may have found the culprit. I believe it is java that is messing it up. I had downloaded pogo and need java to use it. I noticed this when I switched to chrome and everything was fine, then a java update was needed and after the update both browsers started doing the same thing. Jumpy drop downs, autofill not working and shift key takes me back to previous page. Now what? If I uninstall it then can not use pogo which I paid for. Does this sound like it could be the problem? If so any ideas of what to do??
