I have 2 profiles on the machine for my wife and I. After working fine historically and earlier today, I now can no longer print from my TB. I can print from my wife's TB , from IE and from all other web and non-web applications on the machine.

I assume this probably can be fixed through about:config, but any suggestions on steps to resolve the issue would be appreciated.

Hi BirdieBob, How do you start your Print job?
Do you use Ctrl + P or do you open File > Print Menu?
Do you have more than one printer in use?
Is your printer set as Default when it shows in the Menu?
    Neil.

    Hi Neil:

I start print jobs through File> Print. The correct printer is shown in the print dialog box and that printer is set as default.

The strange thing is that this is occurring ONLY in MY TB profile. I can print from my FF, my wife's TB & FF, and all other applications. In TB, print preview presents a blank, greyed-out display below the print preview screen headers; and printing triggers the printer but a completely blank page is produced.

I've never run into this before and it began mid-day yesterday after working normally in all aspects in the morning, as it always has in the past.

Have you tried printing in TB's Safe Mode?

Yes I've tried in safe mode: same result -- prints a blank page.

Are you both using the same TB installation with separate profiles, or are you each using a distinct TB installation?

If you're using the same installation, I would think the problem has to lie in your profile. Have you made any recent changes?

We are using the same TB installation with 2 separate profiles. Given that I can print from everything other than my TB, I agree that the issue must be in my profile.

The only change I tried to make since the update to TB 24.5 was to change the tabs location from above the address bar to below by setting Browser.tabs. onTop to false. (Tabs on top drives me nuts but apparently TB 24.5 doesn't support that change as prior versions did?) I don't believe anything else was touched or changed in the process, although that would be the logical assumption.

Would it make sense to copy prefs.js from my back-up file into the current profile? (I'd back up the current prefs.js first to go back to it if it had no effect)

    Backup your preferences.js. Then do:

    1. Tools > Options.
    2. Advanced > General tab > Config Editor.
    3. Scroll down to print.print_printer. Check the Value. If incorrect do #4.
    4. Right-click on the print.print_printer line & choose Reset.

I use an HP LaserJet 1320 printer. Under config editor I have this entry for the print_printer line

Print_printer user set string hp LaserJet 1320 PCL 5

There are no print.print or print.print_printer lines displayed.

The hp LaserJet 1320 PCL 5 is the default printer.

If there is no print.print_printer listed then the printer is properly configured in tb.
Reset your tb preferences to the defaults. If can print, then set preferences again and note which change affects printing.

Before setting all the preferences to default, I went back through a review of all the user preferences that had been set. I found that in the margin settings, the right margin was set at "55" rather than ".5 ". With the margin incorrectly set that large, the page was rendered unavailable for print preview or printing. Correcting the setting to ".5" resolved the issue and all pages are now visible in print preview and print normally.

Stupid error on my part in adjusting the margins but thanks for the time and input from you, Jim and retiredlearner.

Just to clarify BirdieBob, where did you set your preferences? Setting margins in what area? Thanks Neil.

The margins were set in TB 29.0 at File> Page Setup> Margins & Header/Footer.

    Finally found it: TB V24.5 > File > Print > Page Setup > Margins & Header/Footer.

Your last Post had me searching. I don't know whether my TB layout is different - but the above route was where I located it. Thanks Neil.

Sorry Neil -- neglected to say I'm now in FF 29.0. The path in my TB 24.5 is:

    File> Page Setup> Margins & Header/Footer

Don't know why I stated the version of FF when we were dealing with TB but that was unnecessary and confusing. I've edited the post to clarify that response. I am using TB 24.5.

I found the incorrect preference setting using

    Tools> Options> Advanced> Config Editor

    I then went to

    File> Page Setup> Margins & Header/Footer

to change the right margin setting from "55" to ".05 ".

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Bob ...

Not to be a nudge, but that should be Tools> Options> Advanced> General(tab)> Config Editor :)
