I was reworking changes in a TB 10 address book and deleted the book instead of a contact by mistake. I have a fairly good recent backup to all my files which probably would let me restore the rather large book, but I cannot find out where they are located. They used to be .MAB files but I can't find them anywhere.

    It depends on Windows version.
    In Vista and Seven:
    C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\alphanumeric_folder

Thanks for the insight. I guess I have too much on my PC. I couldn't find the MAB files anywhere. Just toke a few minutes to locate and restore the Address Book I needed. It would have been faster, but the book names are not in order or readily readible. Thnaks again for your insights.

(P.S. - I am a financial supporter of Windows BBS and Mozilla. Both give so much compared to the cost of the commercial products which often take days for any response.

This may be too late for your current situation but for future use, you might want to take a look at Mozbackup - a free download. http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ I have been using it for the past year or so. It lets you back up your entire Thunderbird package - address book, all e-mail, settings, etc. It also lets you back up Firefox if you are using it. I use mine to back up to an external hard drive once a week. I don't think Mozbackup is affiliated with Mozilla.

I recently migrated the entire Thunderbird package from my desktop to my laptop using Mozbackup. Everything transferred over without a hitch.

Meaning what? You do not know where your backup is located? If it is on your hard drive, you can do a Search for abook.mab, unless it is imported, in which case it would impab.mab. My backups are on an external drive, and the path may not be related to that of the original.

I always export my address books as csv files, that way I can re-use them or import anywhere else if need be.
