WindowsBBS is an online community dedicated to easily accessible technical support for those using Microsoft operating systems and other Windows software.
Our goal is to become the leading resource for computer users that require assistance with their day-to-day computer usage, including full support for networking PC's, virus & malware removal, system upgrades and general support questions.

| How do I post a topic in a forum? |
Select a Forum, and at the top click the  button. That's where you start.
Before posting, make sure you have read the Posting Rules and abide by them.
You have to be a registered member in order to post. |
| How do I prevent my username appearing in the 'Currently Active Users' listings? |
In your profile options you will find an option to Use Invisible Mode, if you switch this on you'll only appear to the board administrator or to yourself. You will be counted as a hidden user. |
| What are Infractions? |
The User Infraction system is designed to automate the management of users who fail to follow the guidelines - Posting Rules - for using the WindowsBBS.com Support BBS to which all new members agree to on joining.
Infractions carry a points total that is awarded to users depending on the severity of their misdemeanor and ranges from 2 points for Double Posting’ to 10 points for Insulting Other Member(s) or Spamming. Infraction points expire after 6 or 12 months depending on the severity of the infraction. When an infraction is applied a Private Message is sent to the user concerned stating the reason for the infraction.
When a user reaches a pre-determined point levels an automatic ban is applied to that user. Currently a total of 15 infraction points results in an automatic 2 week ban and if the total reaches 20 the user is banned permanently. |
| What are Sticky topics? |
Sticky topics appear below any announcements in the forum(s). Sticky topics are quite important so you should read them where possible. |
| Why are older threads "closed" |
| We think it is best to close threads that are over 30 days old. If you have a problem, and you see it addressed in one of those older (and closed) threads, and the solutions don't apply to you, start a new thread. You should even mention in your post (with a link to the old thread) that you already tried the solutions offered, but that they didn't work.
If you are a participant in the thread, or have relevant information to that thread, use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page and send us a message explaining why you want to poet to the thread, and include a link to the thread. We will re-open the thread & send you a message when we have done so. |
| What are BBS Team Members? |
BBS Team Members are a number of users who have shown great knowledge on certain subjects, and where therefore asked to join the BBS Team. These users have less “powers” then Moderators, but they are closely involved in the daily operations of this BBS in an advisory role. |
| What is with the Advertising? |
| The WindowsBBS displays advertising for 3rd parties.
Like every other business, we need money to survive. The BBS is run by volunteers, so costs are low, but there are (Web) server, bandwidth and software licensing costs that have to be met.
We run banner advertising on the site. The banners are displayed between posts. For guest users multiple banners per "thread", for registered users 1 or 2 banners per page.
We also run IntelliText ads. This are little pop-up ads that initially only display as a double-green underline (Internet Explorer) or a single dark-green underline (Mozilla Firefox). When you put your mouse over one of these links, a small ad window will pop-up. These Windows are clearly labeled as advertisements by the words "Advertisement" and "IntelliTXT" at the top of the window. This is how they look:
If you do not want to see any ads, we suggest you take out a subscription (starting from $24.95 a year). One of the benefits from being a WindowsBBS subscriber is that you will not see any advertising. |
