Greetings – Can you take a look at this pesky problem – has anyone seen this before?

Server: Windows 2003 Server R2 (up on all SP’s and patches)

Clients: WinXP SP3, (up on all patches)

Goal: To meet security requirements, a timeout value must be placed on the screensaver so that it auto-locks after 4hours. The screensaver timout is being pushed to the clients via policy, at time-of-login. The XP workstations are domain-members.

Problem: Upon creating a brand new user in AD user, and that user logs into one of the XP domain-members, the 4h screensaver timeout works just fine. However, if an administrator touches the user in any way (changing properties, changing PW, etc etc), then that same user, logged into the domain does not time-out after 4h anymore; the screen stays open indefinitely. After that, if an administrator adjusts the timeout policy down to 1h on the DC, then the client will ‘fix’ itself, and start timing out at 1h.

In a nutshell, a new user will use the existing policy, until that user is touched administratively. Then no timeout value is observed at the Client. Setting the policy down to 1h will fix the client, and the client will use the 1h value, but 4h is the requirement.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but...

A client of ours is upgrading to Office 2007 and in the process they are having a number of custom macros and templates created. These macros/templates will be changing from time to time (especially while they are new) so we want to make sure everyone has the latest copy of them on their local workstations.

The reason we do not want to have them access the files from the network is that if changes need to be made, people will then have to close word so that the old file can be removed and the new one can be inserted into the templates directory. Also with 60 people using the same templates we want to make sure that there are no access problems/accidental changes made.

I am wondering if somebody can push me in the right direction as far as what would be the best way of doing this. So far I am looking at adding lines to the login.bat script that runs when users login, however I am not too familiar with how to make it check the file versions, and there are about 40 templates so I really don't want to add a line for each one.

If there is anyone who would be willing to help me with the script, or who can suggest a better way of doing this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

'This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

More information

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain. '

Someone chagned some ports on the router but I have undone this and it still wont work. I have restarted IIS. I have also checked the permissions and added 127.0.0.1 and checked that Default Website is using ASP v1 and not v2.

I know that Monitoring, Backup, RWW, OWA all need IIS. So I do not know if I have reinstall IIS, as none are accessible intenrally or externally, whethere i use https://[ip] or https://[servername]. Really loosing it now also tried this

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...=en-us&m=1&p=1

with no luck.

Any ideas?

Hello,

I have an SBS 2003 SP2 server that has all the latest MS patches installed. About a month ago while installing the latest MS patches I was told I needed to upgrade to Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2. I approved the upgrade. Once installation started I received an error message that said I needed to exit the installer, uninstall WSUS SP1, then restart the installer. I have been hesitant to do this as I usually would turn to an IT consultant on something that is not straight forward. Well tonight I decided to take the plunge. I uninstalled SP1 via the Add/Remove programs. I did not check any of the three boxes shows - so I believe all of my SP1 installation database and settings were left in tact.

I went back to the Task Bar icon that tells you updates are waiting and the Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2 update is no longer listed!! I see on the MS site a place where I can download WSUS. All I was trying to do was go from SP1 to SP2. I am praying I did not lose all of my settings and history (I do use WSUS to review approve updates for three servers including the SBS box and 5 PCs).

Would someone be so kind as to walk me through the steps I need to complete the update?

I am not an expert in this area, so please be as detailed as possible. Thank you!!!!!!!!

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000170, memory referenced
Arg2: 000000000000000c, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :
bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff8000107e285, address which referenced memory
