hi all. thanks in advance for any help you can give.i recently contracted some sort of virus that in the beginning caused the clock on my computer to poorly keep time. progressively the problem got worse until logging onto the internet was impossible. i tried to access admin. in safe mode, then i was told my copy of windows was invalid and i must register, and impossible to do so. anyhow to make a long story short i reformatted, and now my internet does not work right. most times i get "the page cannot be displayed" or sometimes a blank page or only half of the text. i am connected to a friend's wifi modem from bell via an airlink 101 wireless n card. the signal is 24-36 Mbps with good strength. my computer was custom built it has an amd athlon 1.67 1 gb ddr400 ram 160 gb hard drive and windows xp pro sp 3. thanks again.

Good evening, I just finished repairing a HP Pavilion a1550e for a friend. His system was infected with a slew of virues and I was not able to clean the viruses, not to mention the browser was also "hijacked". After doing a system recovery, I'm able to browse the internet with no issues, all sites open fine however, when I log into comcast.net and download the Mcafee suite software that they offer to their customers, the install fails and I can no longer visit any sites. When a site is entered into the browser, the page opens, but is completely blank. If I click an icon on the desktop I receive an error, internet explorer cannot download 711-30572-11896-7, which I have never seen or heard of before today.

I performd another systen recovery and once again I can view any web site, but again when I go out to www.comcast.net and download the Mcafee suiute and install it, the install fails and I'm back to square one, unable to view sites, page opens, but are blank. Any input would be appreciated.

I never had problems with that site (AmericanGreetings.com) before. I notified them about the problem and they gave me suggestions to try to fix it, but none worked. I can get the site to open once, by "clearing footprints" in Internet Options. I have to do this each time I want to open the site. Anyone else have this problem?
