Hi all.
I am a blind computer user, and use JAWS as my screen reading software.
A few days a go, I was sent a script which allows you to do a Google search from within any application.
When trying to search for something the first time, I noticed that Firefox had created a new profile.
After doing a bit of looking around, I found the profile in C:\Documents and Settings\Local Service\Application Data\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox\Profiles
I'm wondering, how shall I go about deleting the profile? I've looked in profile manager, but obviously since the profile isn't in my actual documents and settings folder, its not finding it.
For your information, the google search script uses the Firefox -Search command line switch.
Thanks a lot,
Elliott.

:confused:I am trying to locate the personal address book file that is used by Outlook, but can't seem to locate it. I know it is a separate file from the "contacts" that Outlook shows. I need to do a clean install, but have three profiles on this computer with separate address books. I can't afford to lose them. Anyone have suggestions? I've already tried searching the computer for *.pab and have had no luck. Does Vista store them differently?

Windows 98, Second Edition, 41.0.2222A; Intel Pentium III, 128.0MB RAM; Dell Dimension XPS T450. I may have one problem or multiple problems. Similar to "Rhody post" - I have yellow icon with Exclamation mark on Existing Ndis2 Driver. Also when I boot my computer it goes to black screen with multiple "how do you want to boot options"...I choose "Normal/#1" and computer boots as if it is in Safe Mode (i.e. icons are huge; colors are fuzzy) although screen does not say its in safe mode. When I try to fix the icon/color thru Display under Settings it says I must re-boot...I do that and it still does same process with same result of big icons and fuzzy color. Also, I cannot connect to the internet.

I have tried to use my 98 System CD to no avail. When I click on Device Status/Properties it says: NDIS.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not load the device driver. (Code 2) To fix this, click Update Driver to update the driver device." I then get the Update Device Driver Wizard which says it will search for "Existing Ndis2 Driver". After clicking Next it gives me a cholice of "Search for a better device...now. (Recommended) vs. "Display a list of all the drivers....." I choose "Recommended". Next screen says "Now ready to search for best driver" (shows - "LOCATION of Driver: C:\WINDOWS\INF\NETGEN\INF"). It then says "ndis.vxd was not found" and asks me to insert my Windows 98 System CD... then says found older file which I select then it says "need to re-boot". I do that and I'm back to the black screen...I choose "Normal" boot" and I'm right back to the large icon/fuzzy color and yellow exclamation on "Existing Ndis2 Driver". HELP I GIVE UP!!!!!!

Hi!

Please help, my computer doesn't boot, the screen just go black!
* The system starts, all fans PSU, CPU, graphics card fan, starts,
* The HD sounds like it's running
* I hear no beep from the mother board when it starts.
* It's possible to shut down the system by holding the power button.

It worked fine until one day when trying to start it the above was the case.

My friend has an exakt copy of the system, all tests have been done between our machines.

This is (a sample) of what I've tried:
1. Exchange graphics card to a working one.
2. Test RAM in another machine
3. Test CPU in another machine
4. Bought a new motherboard and replaced the old one.
5. Changed battery
6. Tried the system without HD, Keyboard and mouse connected (in all variations)
7. Checked all chords (also pulled them out and puttning them back when changing mother board obviously)

The strangest thing though: After replacing the motherboard, the computer started ! (with a minor delay) Then it worked for a few minutes, started up windows and everything. While we were toasting with a fine whisky it died again and all was back to "normal", i.e. the problem persits! I have no idea what to make of this!

Please help, I'm pulling my hair out!

Many thanks in advance,

I purchesed a conversion box a few years ago for about $200 and never used it even once before I was fool enough to loan it to someone who moved hundreds of miles away who also says now he doesn't have it. It was an ADS Tech box; I don't remember the model.

Now I'm up against the task of buying another and I want some advice on what to choose, how/why to choose and what features/specifications to look for.

I'll be converting some old VHS and Hi8 to a digital format and I understand there are devices that have different rates (megs per minute, I guess), FPS and color depth.

I've seen some cheapies on e-bay for under 20 dollars; but, it seems too cheap to do the job. Surely there are plenty of gotcha's in one that cheap.

I saw this one at ADSTech.com ($50).
http://www.adstech.com/products/USBA...d=USBAV-192-EF

Would it be as good for my limited needs as this one ($90):
http://www.adstechnologies.com/index...&products_id=2

Then there are these, one with and one without software ($180 and $200):
http://www.adstech.com/products/API-...id=API-558-EFS
https://www.adstechnologies.com/inde...&products_id=3

Advice and technical understanding will be appreciated.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have recently reformatted my computer and upgraded it from XP Home 32-Bit to XP Pro 64-Bit, everything seems to be great except that Windows Media Player 11 will not include audio when playing any of my videos or mp3 song files that are still on my external harddrive. All of the other audio and sound effects for Windows work flawlessly, so I know its not an issue with my speakers or volume control/muting.

I have a Creative Sound Blaster audio card and from what I can find I have no other on board audio card enabled. I updated the driver for the Multimedia Audio Controller with no luck, so I went back and uninstalled it in order to just leave my sound card by itself.

This is the first time I have posted on a forum asking for help with this problem but I have tried every suggestion I could find on other forums to fix this problem with still no luck.

I have tried different versions of the AC3 audio codecs, numerous XP Video Codec packs and even uninstalling and reinstalling WMP v. 11 and v. 10 a few different times. I have also tried a bunch of suggestions from other forums including configuring the AC3 patch and attempting anything else I could with the device manager with yet still no luck.

Sometimes after attempting some of these solutions I have restarted and watched a few videos and the audio works fine, but on further inspection and with more video/audio file opening, it goes back to silence within a few minutes again.

WMP is my player of choice, and I really would love to have it back working like it did before I upgraded. If anyone can offer any solutions or help me diagnose this problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
