Courier Email Blackberry and other problems

I am a long time user of Calypso and now Courier Email.

Recently (past few months) I am getting more and more garbled emails from customers (we provice QuickBooks Add-ons). These garbled emails are mostly from Blackberry but not all. I am also getting emails without text but with an attachment that was previously sent to the recipient. (All in the same day).

These problems do NOT occur when I use MS Outlook or Thunderbird and are not a problem when view the emails from web mail.

Due to these problems I am forced to abondon Courier (which is not what I want to do).

Can anyone help?

I also have a problem in that the mailbox keeps growing and deletions do not significantly reduce the size. I is now 1.2 Gigs. Since the filters and signatures cannot be exported I cannot easily just start a new mailbox.

PLEASE HELP ME KEEP COURIER!!!!!

Thanks

Jack

well, I'm not a blackberry user, but if people are sending HTML via blackberry the message encoding will look like gibberish... I know when blackberry users make that adjustment the problem disappears, but I don't have the technical knowledge to explain what is at the root of the issue.

regarding the growing mailbox, my suggestion is to archive some folders and then compress the mailbox. archiving should cut it down a lot.

Thanks.

I usually just delete old emails but save a backup of the box file if I need to go back. I do compress after deleting.

Will try archiving to see what I can remove.

It should help a lot. I know people who have kept every email they've received for the past decade with Courier just by archiving. Regarding your other concern for blackberry, I noticed a recent thread on the yahoo group -
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/CourierEmailForum/ that discussed it.... over my head, but basically the solution was to use plain text.

It is an HTML problem. Just Click (to un-press it) the MHTL Button in the toolbar at the top.

Do not see an HTML buton in the toolbar. There is a Show Rich Text (HTML) format that I have but if I click on it it takes the text and makes it an attached file with name Base64.att which when opened with Notepad is the same junk that was in the body before.

What am I missing?

Ok. Try this
Open the email
Click on Window
then Click on Rich Text Format (to remove the check mark)

This coverts the text of the email (from a blackberry user) back to normal text. The Base64 attachment is not involved.

Good luck.
