I have begun to encounter the following problem...
When I bring up Courier I get this message: "The Courier MAPI component is no longer enabled. Do you wan tot enablethe Courier MAPI component?"
I respond yes and Courier goes on it's merry way.
If I click on Help|Courier MAPI setting - the Check box entitled : "Enable Courier MAPI component on this system" is UNCHECKED.
I then CHECK the box and am presented with a message " Must restart your computer for these chnages to take effect".
I restart the computer and the same EXACT problems ensues....
So what possibly could be the problem? Why would this suddenly start happening with no way of correcting it?

Another program is changing the MAPI file at start up without asking you if that's OK. Very annoying.
After rebooting, if you right-click on a file in Windows Explorer and use the Send To -> Mail Recipient item from the context menu, what program opens?

No program opens, but reference is madeto Outlook...
I have recently installed Outlook to facilitate using the addressbook, appointments, etc (in connection with my PocketPC PDA) and NOT the EMAIL portion of Outlook... everything relative to Outlook EMail has been 'turned off' ... at least as far as I can tell...
Yeah, that figures that it would be a Microsoft thing.
There must be something run at startup that is switching the mapi32.dll file - can you check the autorun entries and see if there is anything referencing MAPI in there? We've got a Startup Manager that can help organize that and disable anything you want to, let me know if that would help.

Assuming that there is somehting "switching the mapi32.dll file", why when I respond to the Courier MAPI message does it not 'reset' the 'switching'? I can stop and start Courier any number of times during the day, without a reboot, and that message keeps popping up when Courier starts
I have no idea how to "check the autrun entries".. perhaps a small clue will set me in the right direction.
OK, in the Program Files\Courier Email\Plugins directory there shold be a file named MAPI32.dll 40KB 4/13/2004
Copy this file into your Windows\System32 directory and overwrite the MAPI32.dll file that is there. That *should* enable the MAPI and allow you to use "Send To" commands in most programs as well as Windows Explorer.

It appears to have resolved the 'problem'...thank you!
Any further word on the 236/247 errors, that continue relentlessly?
No, those getlist errors are very difficult to track down. The issue is in the pop3.dll file that got changed after Build 1092 (we were trying to address a *different* issue for people that left mail on the server and were getting duplicate downloads when the UIDL command failed as it will sometimes on some servers). If you revert to 1092 you shouldn't get those getlist errors any more - I'm not sure exactly what other issues changed subsequent to 1092, I think there was a fix in there for an issue with forwarded HTML message from certain web mail systems - most of what we've been screwing around with relates to that &*%$ POP3.dll file and duplicate downloads for some people.
So, I'd suggest giving that route a shot. You'd need to uninstall Courier (so backup mailbox files and your .dic custom dictionary) just in case, but the uninstall won't delete those unless you answer a specific prompt to delete your user files too. After uninstalling Build 1098, you can download and re-install 1092 from www.rosecitydownloads.com\courier3b1092.exe
