My System

Default filter

I just set up a filter to save all attachments to a separate folder. This filter works just fine. However, in my infinite wisdom, I seem to have deleted the default filter. At least, I believe that there was already something in the filter folder before I started messing around. Do I need to recreate it? If so, what are the parameters? Thanks.

Usually (but not necessarily) you set up Filters for each
Account (and assign them to that Account using settings)
and then set the JunkYard Filter to act "before" or "after"
the Filter that you have selected to use for the Account.

JunkYard Filter would have a "default filter definition" that
was the "pattern or basics" for each JunkYard Filter to follow.
This can be re-entered easily by ceating the basic Filter and
checking off the box "Select as JunkYard Filter ... etc.).

Do you have a recent backup of your mailbox? Or if you just did this, is Courier's backup timestamped prior to your change?

If so, don't open Courier until you make a copy of the backup mailbox and name it differently from any mailbox(es) you use. Now open a courier session on the renamed backup mailbox. As you examine each filter, there will be printable text description of it. Print these out and exit.

Now run Courier again on your the damaged mailbox, and with the printouts as a guide, re-enter the filter(s) you deleted.

Good luck.
