I had an adblocker running in Chrome that worked well. But I had a problem with Chrome that made me uninstall and re-install Chrome. That deleted the adblocker.

Now I've tried to find the adblocker again, but cannot. I don't remember what it was called.

Anyone know? I'm tired of the ads!

Thanks for the quick response. I was getting the same results from a Google search as you were. None of them were what I had before.

But I finally found it. This seems to be the one: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom

Or if not, at least it works as well as the other one I had did. Took a while to find it, though, among all the other worthless stuff that Google finds.

If you want to block ads from well known "ad sites ", why not block them by putting them in hosts file ? This would block access for everything & not just Chrome.

Hi Daanii. Adding to what rsinfo said a hosts file will definitely help block ads in internet browsers. Take a look here.

Thanks for the information on blocking hosts. I'll look into that.

I tried blocking ads by modifying the hosts file. It seems to block a few of the ads. But not many. The Adblock for Chrome program does a lot better.

It may be that I have not modified the hosts file correctly. I'll continue to look into this. If it works better, I'll report that here.

After more experience with blocking ads by changing the hosts file, I gave up. I decided to go back to my original hosts file.

Some ads that I did not want displayed were displayed. Some webpages that I wanted to use could not be used. The filter was off too much.

It looks like you can adjust the filter yourself. But that is hard to do. While using the hosts file sounds good in theory, in practice it does not seem to work well. I'm content with Adblock for Chrome.

Thats fine. I haven't had any issues myself with blocking ads with a hosts file but as long as your satisfied then thats the important part.
